CNN Tech columnist, Pete Cashmore, writes that Cloud Computing is one of the Top 10 web trends to watch in 2010. Cashmore says, “The trend, in which data and applications cease to reside on our desktops and instead exist on servers elsewhere (“the cloud”), makes our data accessible from anywhere and enables collaboration with distributed teams.”
The fact that cloud computing is here to stay and grow is no shock to those of us who run our businesses in the cloud. But if you are new to cloud computing then you may be unaware of some of the upsides.
Here are just a few of the benefits and reasons why the cloud movement for online collaboration will continue in 2010:
- 24X7 access to information, across corporate firewalls
- Increased productivity
- Quicker access to company or departmental knowledge
- Flexibility and customization options
- Lower communications costs
- Fast Implementation
- No maintenance and IT support needed
It goes without saying that we have our heads in the “clouds”, believe in online collaboration and are committed to bringing our customers the best of what the cloud has to offer. So, if you are using ancient server software that requires too much effort to maintain or you need a way to collaborate outside your company firewall, look to the cloud.
